Message From Chapter 83 President Keith Welsh
Thank you for visiting our web site and welcome to EAA Chapter 83.
If you are the type of person who loves airplanes, loves to fly them,
maintain them, are a professional or novice in the aviation field,
enjoy aviation as a hobby, or if you just love being around airplanes, the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. (EAA) is for you.
Everything from warbirds to antiques and classics, from custom builts to
ultra-lights can be found in the EAA family. Membership in EAA includes
the award winning monthly magazine Sport Aviation and support in a
variety of ways. Life insurance, aircraft financing, legal assistance,
Young Eagles, and membership in one of EAA's divisions such as Vintage
Airplane, Warbirds of America, Homebuilding or the Ultralights, just to name a few.
The worlds largest Aviation event occurs each July at Oshkosh, WI at EAA AirVenture. During the 7 day
run, Whittman Field is the busiest airport in the world. Each April, EAA
sponsors Sun-N-Fun at Lakeland, FL. It is fast growing week long event.
The EAA is supported by over 1000 local Chapters world wide. Chapters
are the grass roots side of EAA. Monthly meetings provide a means to gather
with others of like interest to discuss, educate and associate with
your friends in aviation. EAA Chapter 83 meets 12 times a year. We focus on
education during the winter months, and from May through November, fly to
meetings at different locations. Whether paved runways or grass strips,
we have had as many as 25 airplanes of all types in attendance. Chapter
83 keeps in touch with it's members through our great monthly newsletter,
which is filled with facts-n-fancies and pictures of what our members
are doing. For those who enjoy and are passionate about aviation you can't
do any better than to be a member of an EAA Chapter.
